In order to effectively promote the comprehensive replacement and elimination of the use of foam extinguishing agents containing persistent organic pollutants (PFOS) in the fire protection industry of China, and further strengthen the green, environmentally friendly and high-quality development of Chinese fire protection industry, the following project and fire test have been carried out recently.

The fire test was successfully completed by emergency management The Ministry of Fire Protection Product Conformity Assessment Center. Under the guidance of the National Fire Rescue Bureau and the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, with the support of the Liaoning Provincial Fire Rescue Corps, the Liaoning Provincial Fire Protection Association, the Dalian Fire Rescue Detachment, and the Dalian Jinpu New District Management Committee
Tianjin Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Management, Shenyang Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Management, Dalian Jinpu New District Management Committee Nearly 50 people including leaders of relevant departments of Puxin District, China Petroleum Depot Standards and Specifications Group, Sinopec Standards and Specifications Group, as well as the testing unit Liaoning Provincial Emergency Fire Protection Professional Technology Innovation Center, representatives of foam fire extinguishing agent demonstration enterprises, and relevant personnel of the project team attended the event. The test activities were hosted by researcher Dong Jingfei, the project leader.
This test is the largest and most complex large-scale petrochemical storage tank fire test in the world in recent years. The test successfully verified the key performance of domestic PFOS-free foam extinguishing agents in extinguishing polar and non-polar fuel fires under different working conditions. During the test, the project team used the independently developed 5000m³ petrochemical storage tank fire test platform to carry out fixed system fire extinguishing system, semi-fixed fire extinguishing system, and foam hook pipe fire extinguishing tests on different specifications and models of PFOS-free foam fire extinguishing agents for demonstration applications in accordance with the requirements of petrochemical storage tank design specifications and related product standards.
This test not only effectively verified the performance of PFOS-free foam extinguishing agents, but also carried out verification tests on relevant product standards and design requirements in my country's foam extinguishing equipment and petrochemical storage tank design specifications, providing a technical basis for the revision of my country's foam fire extinguishing equipment product standards and petrochemical storage tank design specifications. This test has brought a successful conclusion to the demonstration project of my country's fire protection industry to implement the "Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants", and has laid a solid foundation for my country's fire protection industry to further promote the full implementation of the convention.

He pointed out that this test is representative and advanced worldwide. The success of the test indicates that my country's PFOS-free foam fire extinguishing agent has been verified in actual combat and achieved the expected goals, contributing Chinese wisdom to my country's fire protection industry and environmental protection industry for the community of human destiny and global environmental governance.
